Foggy November on Lake Wassookeag in Dexter, Maine

October 1st on Lake Wassookeag in Dexter, Maine

This is one of the few public access points on the shore of the Big Lake Wassookeag where you have a good clear shot at capturing a sunset. It is in a pull-off from Route 23 with a public boat launch and a picnic table. The big lake is about two miles long, east to west. There often are some wild ducks hanging out here as well that will sometimes pose for you. An interesting fact is that when settlers first came here, the lake was much smaller. This section was dry land. When I was young, I remember finding some Native American artifacts like arrow heads along this shore. When the stream was damned up, the lake greatly increased in size.
